The Anglo-Nubian breed is a relatively large, proud, and graceful dairy animal. The Anglo-Nubian animal is named for Nubia, in northeastern Africa. The originally animals imported from Africa, Arabia and India were long-legged, hardy animals that had some characteristics desired by animal breeders in England.
